Exploring Williams Arizona White Horse Lake

I didn’t realize that I would end up being MIA from my blog for nearly a week. I planned on blogging through our camping vacation in Williams, but the internet decided not to cooperate. lol! That means that I’m playing a bit of catch up this week with my posts..

On our second full day in Williams, Daddy decided that he wanted to head back out and hit some trails. Our destination this time was White Horse Lake. We spent part of the time on paved roads to get to the trails leading back to the lake. Munchkin and I ended up pretty dirty on the first day of exploring due to the dusty, dirt trails, but that was nothing compared to how we looked after this expedition. It looked like we had taken a bath in dirt. Thankfully, the weather was nice because it would not have been fun if we were dealing with the same heat as we have here at home.

As usual, Munchkin’s fishing pole and tackle box made the trip with us. As soon as we arrived, Munchkin assembled the fishing pole and worked on getting her new lure on the line. Daddy helped her with some of the knots, and I had fun exploring the area a little. Of course, I was taking pictures as I walked. Now, taking pictures and not paying close attention to where you are walking is not always advisable as there may be muck sink holes that you may barely miss due to not paying attention. Um, yep, I almost stepped in some serious muck while trying to take some pictures of the dragonflies. I never did get that great shot, but at least I didn’t end up covered in muck. 😉

Munchkin was rather disappointed when she didn’t catch anything – again. We saw all kinds of little fish jumping out of the water, but nothing was taking the bait. When the line got snagged on something (rock? seaweed?) and snapped, we decided that it was time to pack things up and make our way back to the campground. Daddy decided that we were going to take a different way back, so we checked out the maps and headed off on our journey. We were met with some very dry, dirt roads as we made our way back to the campground. Our campground hosts got a good chuckle out of how dirty Munchkin and I were by the time we arrived at our final destination. Needless to say, we all needed to do some serious cleaning up. The rest of the day was spent relaxing and trying to get re-hydrated.

Up next the Grand Canyon – South Kaibab Trailhead.
