Christmas Crafts: Silent Night and Joy Signs

Silent Night and Joy Signs

We wanted some fun signs to put up around the house, but we didn’t want to send lots of money to buy or make them.  Using cardstock and our Cricut, we were able to create these simple signs.

For the Silent Night sign, we just used red cardstock for the letters and embellishments and a cream cardstock for the base.

For the Joy sign, a little more creativity and work was involved.  For this one, we used a metallic blue cardstock for the lettering.  We then took a piece of tan cardstock and attached the letters to it using a tape runner.  I used scalloped edge scissors to jazz up the sides of the paper.  I took a small circle paper punch and put a little circle in each scallop along the edge of the paper. Finally, we attached that paper to a piece of dark brown cardstock.

For durability, we put both signs through the laminator.  Each of the signs is simply hung on the wall with coordinating binder clips.

It’s a very simple craft, but it was fun.  I’m sure that we’ll be creating more signs.  Obviously, you could do the same thing on wood plaques like we did for the Wise Men plaque.  They would make great gifts.  You could personalize the colors to the recipient’s decor.
