Munchkin and I were trying to come up with a unique gift for someone when we saw the phrase “Wise Men Still Seek Him”. We thought this would make a cool phrase to put on a plaque which would make a nice handmade CHRISTmas gift.
Supplies:
- Plain wood plaque
- Black Paint
- Lettering (cut with Circut)
- Designs (cut with Cricut)
- Mod Podge
- Paint Brush
- Foam Brush
- Ribbon
- Tacks
Directions:
- Lightly sand your wood plaque to remove any splinters or uneven spots. Wipe down to remove dust.
- Paint the plaque black (or your desired color). We only did one coat for ours.
- Do a trial run placement on lettering and shapes/designs.
- Once you figure out the placement, you’ll use the Mod Podge to attach everything.
- You’ll seal the plaque with 2-3 light coats of the Mod Podge.
- For a more rustic look, you can lightly sand the plaque to make it look worn.
- Once the plaque is completely dry, you’ll turn the plaque over and attach the ribbon using tacks. I ran the ribbon down the back and had some ribbon sticking out from the top and bottom. The ribbon is tacked in several spots. Make sure you tack the right side of the ribbon to the plaque as you want the front of the ribbon showing once the plaque is flipped back over.
- If desired, add a nice bow to the top of your ribbon. (I just attached it to the straight ribbon with a safety pin.) Cut the ends of the ribbons with pinking shears.
We were pleased with result and had lots of fun designing and working on it together.
