A couple of months ago, I found two brand new doll beds at the thrift store. They were less than $4 a piece, so I snatched them both up. I didn’t know if we would use them for Munchkin or if they would end up being gifts. When my sister told me that my niece wanted a doll bed for her American Girl Doll, I told her that I would be happy to do that for her birthday.
Munchkin and I decided that we would give this white metal bed to my niece. It didn’t have a mattress or any bedding, so I set out to make some.
First, I created a “mattress” for the bed. Then, I made a pillow and coverlet for the bed. I used material that I had picked up from JoAnn Fabrics after Thanksgiving for $1.49 a yard.
In order to dress up the bedding a little, I decided to try out one of the “fancy” stitches on my machine. I started on the pillow, so those are a little less than perfect. By the time I got to the bedding, I had figured it out a little better. Once I completed everything, I took the bed outside to get the opinions of a couple of girls that really like AG dolls. They both think it turned out well and want one of their own. Hopefully, my niece will be just as excited with her new bed and bedding for her doll.
What a gorgeous job you did of making the mattress and the bedding. Your niece should be positively ecstatic!
Blessings,
Jillian

OH! This is beautiful! It *almost* makes me regret my distaste of sewing. LOL
That is really adorable!
That detail in the stitches looks so pretty!
