Support Our Troops

Posted in Family, Homemaking, and Thoughts

Back in August, Alycia wrote about an opportunity to support our troops by making blankets for single Marines returning from Iraq. Since they’re returning in the same time frame that my hubby is leaving, I thought this would be a wonderful thing for Munchkin and I to do to show our support. Well, we bought our material way back in August, but with everything going on around the homefront, we just made the blanket last week. Yikes! The main thing is that Munchkin and I worked together and got it finished. Here’s how it turned out:

Soccer

Posted in Family, Homeschooling, and Thoughts

This year, Munchkin is playing on a Christian homeschool soccer league. She’s having a blast learning the game and just getting out there and playing. She has practices on Friday and games on Saturdays. The good news is that Daddy will actually be able to see a game or two before he deploys!! Her season lasts from September to November. So, we start out toasty and end up freezing (or so I’ve been told). Here are a few pictures. We Scored!!!

Our Week in Review

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

Our week started out with a visit to a new church. We had driven by this church many times, so we decided to try it out this past Sunday. Since it was missionary week, we didn’t really get to experience what the church would normally be like. But, we did experience a very friendly group of people that welcomed us with open arms. I had forgotten how much I miss talking to D when he’s gone. Usually, when he’s away, I’m able to talk to him on a fairly regular basis, but that hasn’t been the case this time. So, I am ever so grateful for each…

New Bedtime Routine

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

Since D has been gone, Munchkin has been having a difficult time falling to sleep at night. I’ve been working on different routines to see what works best for her. We seem to have finally found a good routine. Each night, she gets ready for bed then heads to my bedroom. We cuddle in bed and listen to the newest episode of Adventures in Odyssey online. We then do our family devotions and say our prayers. After she feeds the fish and guinea pigs, she runs upstairs to hide. This tradition started with Daddy. She would always go hide from…
