Jurassic Pumpkin

Pumpkin

The housing office in base housing offers kids the opportunity to come to the “pumpkin patch” and pick out a pumpkin.  Usually, we seem to miss out on the best pumpkins, but this year, the pumpkin patch opened the day of D’s surgery.  One of the things that I did to keep Munchkin busy was to take her over to pick out her pumpkin.  She was pretty excited that she was able to get a really nice pumpkin.

We have a good bit of fun carving pumpkins around our house.  This year was the first time in an extremely long time (as in, I honestly don’t remember) that I have not carved my own pumpkin.  The only thing that I did this year was create the stencil for Munchkin’s pumpkin.  She knew what she wanted, and I made it happen for her.  She did everything else on her own.  I think it turned out well, and she’s pleased that she was able to do it completely on her own once I created the stencil.

Munchkin with Pumpkin

Munchkin was able to spend a nice part of the day as well as the evening with her friend from next door.  They headed out for a little trick-or-treating on base, and then spent the rest of the evening handing out candy and other goodies to kids.  Munchkin was thrilled to be able to spend a good bit of time with her friend.  I am extremely grateful that they allowed Munchkin to join them for part of the evening, and then allowed her friend to spend the rest of the evening at our house.  It’s a blessing to have a good friend living next door.
