Can you believe that it’s already the first of November? It’s been just over a week since Daddy had his second back surgery. We are extremely pleased that he’s already in less pain that he was in prior to this surgery. The recovery is already going better than after the first surgery. Praise the Lord!
On Monday, we headed over for the follow-up appointment with the surgeon. He was pleased to hear that things were going well. The x-rays look good even though all the metal “bling” that he’s now sporting is crazy. The doc says that he should make a full recovery for a normal person, but he’s not so sure about the recovery going so far as to be a full recovery for a Marine. That’s great news as far as D’s health is concerned, so we are happy about that. It does mean that there’s a good chance that he’ll say goodbye to being a Marine sooner than originally planned. That is not a surprise as we were told that prior to the surgery. We’re taking that aspect of things one day at a time.
Once again this year, I’m taking part in the Gratitude Challenge over at Garden of Learning, and today is the first day of the challenge. I love that the challenge allows me to focus on at least one thing for which I’m thankful for each day of the month. When you’re going through a time that’s full of ups and downs, focusing on the positive can make a huge difference between having a good day or having a bad day. On day one this year, I am grateful that D’s surgery went well, and that’s he’s already up and walking around outdoors as he wasn’t able to do that as quickly after the last surgery. He has a long way to go until he’s up and about as normal, but we’re praising the Lord for the progress that we’re seeing just a week later.
Awe!!!! So glad he is up and about, even if just a little.
