Charting a Course

Posted in Family, and Photography

Looking at MapProject 365 – #048

D and I are both planners.  We like to have a course charted in most if not all areas of our lives, but there are times when something happens and we’re blown off our planned course.  We’re currently dealing with some of those crazy storms right now.  (Lest friends and family worry… Nothing terrible is going on, but the storms are there just the same.)

If you’re in the military, you’re familiar with the term Semper Gumby.  You expect things to be unknown.  Plans can change in the blink of an eye.  It becomes so routine that the possibility of something happening – spouses being deployed or away for training – actually becomes part of the plan.  Those contingencies are built into your plans.  It’s just how it is.  (No, D is not being deployed again, and no, we’re not moving any time soon.  Just wanted to put those concerns at rest before they started.)

Where am I going with all of this?  It seems that the Lord is constantly reminding me lately that things will happen in His time and that He is the one in control.  Being sick has caused me to spend less time on the computer and more time talking with Munchkin.  It’s made me rest more.  It’s also caused me to think.

Several other things are going on in the Marine Corps Nomads household, but I’m holding off on talking about them for now.  We’re going to see how things unfold before talking about them.

For now, we’ll continue charting a course, but we know that at any moment, this course could change.

  3. That’s an awesome AWESOME photo!! As a military family, too (DH and I were both active when we married, then just he was active, now he’s in the Guard, and considering going active Guard in a year…), **and** being a seriously type A personality, I feel your pain on the planning!! I always plan for the worst now, thinking that at least then, I’ll be covered for everything. (((hugs))) I hope the storms clear for you soon.

  4. Oh I so understand!! The Marine Corps life is throwing me for a loop right now. Just when I was finally used to the idea of retirement, it seems we’re not, and will be heading to Okinawa instead. Crazy life. Gotta love it.
