Now that Munchkin is older and is helping more with cleaning, I have decided that it’s really time to start looking for less toxic methods of cleaning. Not to mention, the horrible fumes that come from many cleaning products make me feel awful. Munchkin also really wants to start doing things to help the environment, so we are starting to “go green” to some extent.
Today, we’ll be going through the house and cleaning out the toxic cleaning products and replacing them with non-toxic cleaning products. I’m reading a couple of good books on the subject: Green Housekeeping and Green Clean.
After last night’s scare, I’ll also be making sure that all toxic products that we do keep are in child safe locations. Munchkin is old enough to know better, but we still have our furry friend to consider. Plus, if we have anyone over, I want to make sure our home is safe for all.
Hubby and I are actually looking into healthier cleaners, too. A few days ago I was cleaning a bathtub with some scouring powder. I realized that I was breathing the stuff in and had no idea what was in it… and our two year old was standing right beside me.
It’s amazing what we don’t think about until we put ourselves in a little one’s shoes.
How are you finding those books? Any tips you’d like to share?

I sure can understand that after reading your other post! Thank God that he’s okay. Great idea, switching to green cleaners. And something I should think about as well. Have a great week! ;o)
