A New Rescue Horse

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

Earlier this week, I received a call from an animal shelter. They had a horse who needed a new home – fast. (They had contacted the rescue last week, and I left a few messages but due to illness we hadn’t heard anything back until that point.) If they couldn’t rehome this healthy horse, they were going to put her down later that day. We talked back and forth a bit, and she decided to send me a video of the horse. Once I saw the video, I knew that I needed to talk to Izzy asap. After viewing the…

2013 Ranch T-Shirts Designed by Munchkin

Posted in Family

I admit that I’m rather proud of Munchkin’s design for this year’s t-shirts for the ranch fundraiser. Every year, the ranch sells t-shirts to raise funds for food and medical care for the horses. This year, I was in charge of making the t-shirts, and Munchkin came up with the design. This is the back of the t-shirt. The front features the ranch logo. We used a bunch of different colors for the t-shirts as well as the color of the ink. It was a time consuming process, but if it raises funds for the ranch I think the end…

A Brand New Experience: Animal Handling

Posted in Family

On Monday, it was confirmed the some of the rescue horses from the ranch would be used in a music video that was being shot on Tuesday. I was asked to haul the horses since I have the truck that can pull the horse trailer while fully loaded. We knew that Tuesday would be crazy, but I don’t think any of us realized how crazy it would really be. Tuesday morning found Munchkin and I at the ranch earlier than usual – much to Munchkin’s chagrin as a morning person she is not. We still had not heard what time…

Overhauling the WRR Rhino

Posted in Family

A couple of weeks ago, D, Munchkin, and I decided that it was time to give the WRR Horse Rescue Rhino an overhaul. It had seen better days due to accidents, and we were charged with keeping it at our place for a time period while the owner of the ranch decided what to do with it. Since D already had parts on order for routine maintenance, we knew it was a perfect opportunity to jazz it up a bit. There was barely anything left of the hood and it was missing a light. The bumper was pretty much toast…

Open House at the Horse Rescue

Posted in Family

Saturday found us working hard at the horse rescue as we prepared for the big Open House and Whoa Down for Hay event at the horse rescue. The bunkhouse was ready to be rented out to interested parties, and Munchkin had worked diligently during the week to get the nature park ready to show off to those who attended the big event. When 11:00 rolled around, we were (for the most part) ready for the event to begin. We had hamster races which were a huge hit. The Mane Street Stampede put on a great comedic western performance. Munchkin had…
