Saturday found us working hard at the horse rescue as we prepared for the big Open House and Whoa Down for Hay event at the horse rescue. The bunkhouse was ready to be rented out to interested parties, and Munchkin had worked diligently during the week to get the nature park ready to show off to those who attended the big event. When 11:00 rolled around, we were (for the most part) ready for the event to begin.
We had hamster races which were a huge hit. The Mane Street Stampede put on a great comedic western performance. Munchkin had a little book signing for her book as a fundraiser for the horse rescue. We did a parade of a large group of the rescue horses, and then some of the volunteers did a little race on a few of the horses to show off the new (still being worked on) race track area. As things began to die down, it was time to do the ribbon cutting ceremony for the bunkhouse, race track, and nature park.
We went home exhausted, but happy about how the day went. Oh, it wasn’t without it’s glitches along the way, but the horse rescue raised some much needed funds for hay and food for the horses. People enjoyed the fun, food, and horses while they got to see the improvements being implemented all over the ranch.
D arrived home from work shortly before we got back from the ranch. We were bummed that he wasn’t able to be there, but we quickly filled him in on all the day’s events. Then, Munchkin and I crashed for the evening. lol!
what a neat day 🙂
LOVE the first photo 🙂
