WFMW: Craft and Toy Storage

Posted in Homemaking

I try to keep lots of crafting supplies on hand for Munchkin and her friend.  The problem is keeping those supplies organized and easily in reach.  We had some of the plastic rolling carts, but they were always collapsing and breaking.  A few years back, we had purchased a couple of the Trofast system units from IKEA for storage of some of my things.  When we moved this time, I decided these would be perfect to store craft and school supplies. (The white stand next to the Trofast units is from our old bathroom, but it doesn’t work at our…

Holiday Preparations

I love this time of year.  Normally, I’m seeing beautiful trees painted in glorious colors.  As the air gets cooler, we know it’s time to head to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard. This year is a little different.  We’re not watching the fall colors.  We’re not picking pumpkins or apples.  Instead, we’re watching citrus fruit being harvested.  In fact, D brought me home a huge bag of grapefruit just this week.  It’s all a little odd for someone from the East Coast that is use to regular seasons. Even though things are different than years past, we are still…

Works for Me Wednesday: Workboxes

Posted in Homemaking, and Homeschooling

It seems like Sue Patrick’s workboxes are being talked about everywhere on the internet. The truth is, when I first heard about them, I didn’t see how they would help us, but I was still interested as it sounded like a cool concept. It wasn’t until I was able to attend one of Sue’s seminars during the HOTM online conference that I started to change my thinking about workboxes. When she generously offered a free ebook to the military families in attendance, I quickly jumped at the chance to be able to check out the book. After the attending the…

Learning can be Fun!

Munchkin loves to play board games. Me? Not so much. I usually pass off the board game playing to Daddy when possible. The problem? Daddy has been pretty busy since we moved here, so Munchkin hasn’t been able to play very many board games lately. At the same time this was going on, Munchkin started to get a little tired of the regular routine for school. Doing just the basics wasn’t cutting it for her. She needed some variety, some fun. I decided to make some changes in how our day was going to look. I’ll write more later on…

Works for Me Wednesday

When you have a restricted diet or when you want to eat more organic or healthy, you find that, often, your grocery bills start to rise. Normal methods of saving (such as clipping coupons) don’t usually work as there are not that many coupons available. Depending on where you live, purchasing organic or special foods (such as gluten-free foods) can be difficult. Recently, someone gave me a link to a website that offers coupons for organic and/or specialty products. I thought it would help some of you, so I’m passing it along. Mambo Sprouts offers newsletters, recipes, and coupons for…
