Tackle It Tuesday: The Kitchen

Posted in Homemaking

It’s time for another Tackle it Tuesday over at 5 minutes for Mom. Last week, I was able to make the kitchen safely gluten-free (minus some baking things that I am not going to toss). This week, I’m going to be tackling finishing up the organization of the kitchen. We still don’t have the kitchen completely under control from the move. Since we spend a lot of time in the eat-in kitchen, it really needs to be finished. As D says, one room at a time, we’ll get the house done. For more tackles, head on over to 5 Minutes…

Tackle It Tuesday: Gluten Free Kitchen

Posted in Homemaking

This week’s tackle is an interesting tackle (at least for me). Since we’re going gluten-free at our house, I need to go through the fridge, freezer, and pantry to pull all non-safe foods. Eventually, our whole house will be completely gluten-free, but for now, I need to move all that unsafe stuff out of the kitchen. D will then be able to grab whatever out of the fridge, freezer, or pantry and know that it’s safe. We’re doing whatever possible to make life easier for him. I won’t be throwing out the food. It will just be relocated and eaten…

Tackle It Tuesday

My project for Tackle It Tuesday will be to finish laying the pavers that we removed from the patio area around the newly created fire pit (I used the old bricks from the steps). I started the project yesterday and hope to complete it today. Yesterday, D spent a bit of time taking out the first layer of brick steps from the back of the house in preparation of putting down the deck. It was a painstaking process even with the proper tools, but he did a great job. He then moved on to laying out the design for the…

Tackle It Tuesday: Unpacking

Posted in Homemaking

Have you ever wished after a move that you could just snap your fingers and everything would magically be put away? Well, we’re definitely at that point here. The good news is that one room is completely done. The bad news is that there are several rooms that still have lots of boxes. In all honesty, we’ve been pacing ourselves with the unpacking. We want to take advantage of D’s time off from work before starting at his new duty stations, so we’re also having some fun. That fun includes strawberry picking as I posted earlier. Well, yesterday, we went…

Tackle It Tuesday: More Packing

Posted in Homemaking

You guessed it! We’ve got lots of packing going on this week as moving day is on Friday. We’ll be picking up the truck on Friday, and we’ll start loading it Friday late afternoon/evening. We’ll finish packing up on Saturday and head down to the new house as soon as we’re done. We’ll be unloading on Saturday, returning the truck on Sunday, and heading back up here after that. Talk about a whirlwind trip!!! If we have time, we’ll do some unpacking while we’re down there. If not, we’ll be unpacking at a later time. But, for now, it’s all…
