A New Rescue Horse

Earlier this week, I received a call from an animal shelter. They had a horse who needed a new home – fast. (They had contacted the rescue last week, and I left a few messages but due to illness we hadn’t heard anything back until that point.) If they couldn’t rehome this healthy horse, they were going to put her down later that day. We talked back and forth a bit, and she decided to send me a video of the horse. Day two of horse camp began with a drive through the desert to go see a large oak tree in the middle of the desert. Obviously, this is an odd, but cool site. Horse Camp Fall 2013 – Day One

Munchkin had the opportunity to attend horse camp this week, so we took advantage it. Day one began with a walk down the street to meet up with Mr. Jack for lessons in roping. He patiently talked to the entire group and explained the technique. Each child then took a turn. I was so impressed with how he worked with each child in a way that allowed every single child to successfully rope the practice steer. 2013 Ranch T-Shirts Designed by Munchkin

I admit that I’m rather proud of Munchkin’s design for this year’s t-shirts for the ranch fundraiser. Every year, the ranch sells t-shirts to raise funds for food and medical care for the horses. This year, I was in charge of making the t-shirts, and Munchkin came up with the design. This is the back of the t-shirt. The front features the ranch logo. This month’s community outreach for the horse rescue was a fall festival where the kids could go trick-or-treating on horseback. It was a unique opportunity that was a big hit for both the regulars at the ranch as well as kids from the community. Another fun activity was a costume contest for both people and their horses. Munchkin decided that she wanted to be Lady Carliss from the Knights of Arrethtrae book series.
