Field Trips

Posted in Family, and Homeschooling

Yesterday, we started off our day with our field trip to Cold Stone Creamery. “Does anyone want some ice cream for breakfast?” was the phrase that started our field trip. The kids got a kick out of this one. After seeing all the behind the scenes workings, the kids headed out front to pick their flavor of ice cream and topping. Next, we headed over to a local farm. The kids started off the field trip by playing a huge mound of mulch. We stopped for a photo op and to feed the goats. It was finally time for the…

Apiary Field Trip

Posted in Homeschooling

Today, we headed out on a field trip with our homeschooling group to a local apiary. We had a lot of fun as the kids (and adults) learned more about bees, honey, and beeswax. I came home with 4 pints of fresh honey, some beeswax candles, and a honey cookbook. I couldn’t pass up the great deal on yummy local honey and candles. Learning about how they build the boxes for the bees. Showing the parts of the hives. Talking about the hive and displaying empty hive. Munchkin getting a close-up look at the empty hive. Talking about the gear…

We arrived at the hotel on Friday evening, and the girls immediately begged to go swimming. Off to the pool we went for a little swimming before bed. In the morning, we got up and headed for the museum. We were delighted from the time…

Field Trip: Aquarium

Posted in Family, and Homeschooling

Well, I told Munchkin that we’d have some fun this week, so we started off the week by heading to the aquarium for a field trip. I have decided that it’s time to get that new camera. I can’t hold out any longer. I don’t want to miss out on memories due to a bad camera. Anyway, here are some pictures from our day. Munchkin petting and then feeding the horseshoe crab: We became small and travelled through the wetlands as little beings. Then we ran into this! The newest temporary exhibit was the penguins: One of the cutest creatures…
