Family Day and More…

Posted in Family, and Military Life

Last night, I stayed up way too late working on Munchkin’s cake and other party decorations.  Munchkin hasn’t seen the cake yet.  She’ll see it for the first time at the party.  I’m pleased with how it turned out even though I have the most difficult time writing on cakes. This morning, we worked on cleaning the house some more and doing some decorating before heading over to family day.  They had two inflatable slide/bounce houses for the kids and lots of food.  Some people were playing horse shoes while others were playing volleyball. D and I were busy talking…

More Party Preparations and Homeschool Fun

Posted in Family, and Homemaking

Our day started off with house work and schoolwork.  Once again, Munchkin did most of her work on her own, so I could get some tasks done around the house.  After she was done with her school work, she got dressed and ate some lunch.  (Yes, we often stay in our pjs in the morning hours.) After lunch, we headed over to the park for park day with our homeschool group.  Munchkin gave one of her friends an invite to her party.  (I had already talked to her mom, but she hadn’t received an actual invite yet.)  It was nice…

11th Birthday Preparations: Part 2

Posted in Family, and Homemaking

Today was filled with more cleaning and birthday preparations.  While I worked, Munchkin did her school work and then worked on her car for the Awana Grand Prix.  The Grand Prix was tonight.  There were several technical difficulties (and difficulties in how the rules were enforced), but the kids ultimately had lots of fun even with the craziness.  It was priceless watching all of their excited faces as the cars raced down the track. Back to the party prep… When I was at the dollar store, I found these travel mugs that you can personalize.  I knew these would make…

Grand Canyon Adventure: Pictures and Resource

Posted in Family, and Reviews

One of the things that we’ve never liked about going to beautiful places like the Grand Canyon is that all of the pamphlets and information is steeped in the theory of evolution.  Since we believe in creation, we prefer to read about the creation aspect. While we were at the Creation Museum last year, we picked up a book on the Grand Canyon.  At the time that we picked it up, we didn’t really know when we’d be going to the Grand Canyon.  It was something that we wanted to do, but we had no idea that it would be…

Home Again, Home Again…

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

Coming home from a camping trip is always bittersweet.  We love being out together as a family with no distractions.  It’s nice to come home, but we miss those special times. The trailer has been unloaded and put back in storage.  Our living room is full of bags to be unpacked and laundry to be done.  Tonight, we’ll relax after our journey home and tackle those things later…. Next week, I’ll post more pictures from our trip.  I’ll also share the many places we visited.  Have a wonderful evening!!
