One of the things that we’ve never liked about going to beautiful places like the Grand Canyon is that all of the pamphlets and information is steeped in the theory of evolution. Since we believe in creation, we prefer to read about the creation aspect.
While we were at the Creation Museum last year, we picked up a book on the Grand Canyon. At the time that we picked it up, we didn’t really know when we’d be going to the Grand Canyon. It was something that we wanted to do, but we had no idea that it would be happening in the near future. We just liked that the book presented the whole Grand Canyon from a creation viewpoint. Little did we know that this book would become a valuable tour book in the near future…
Your Guide to the Grand Canyon: A Different Perspective is a tour book of the Grand Canyon. The first four sections give you information about the Grand Canyon, activities, locations, maps…
Section Five takes you from location to location in the Grand Canyon giving you in-depth information about what you are looking at (with labels for the different things you are viewing). We loved this section. We were able to take the book to each location and know exactly what we were viewing. For the areas where we drove, I would read about the new location as we drove to it. When we were hiking, we would read about the location once we arrived.
Section Six talks about the importance of the Grand Canyon. Section Seven delves into geology and gets into the creation vs evolution debate and various dating methods. Section Eight talks about fossils found in the canyon. Section Nine is about the ecology of the park, and what one would expect from both the creation and evolution viewpoints. Section Ten goes into the history of the Grand Canyon. At the end of the book, you’ll find additional resources as well as a glossary of terms.
If you’re headed to the Grand Canyon and want a really good resource book that has the creation viewpoint, I highly recommend this book. Even if you aren’t able to head to the Grand Canyon, this would be a resource to have in your personal library to learn more about the Grand Canyon.

Oh Heather, your photos of the Grand Canyon are absolutely spectacular – the colours are so vibrant!
Isn’t it wonderful to have a resource that talks about dates in terms of Creation and not evolution? 😀

Thanks for sharing these amazing pictures Heather…how could anyone deny a wonderful amazing Creator after viewing them??
And thank you also for suggesting the wonderful resource on the Grand Canyon from a Creationist perspective…very refreshing! If we ever do get the chance to go, I will definitely check it out.
On a much smaller scale, I think of our simple visits to the zoo….everything posted credits evolution. I recently found a resource by Jonathan Park offered via Vision Forum that gives a Creationist perspective for visiting the zoo. I haven’t purchased it yet, but I think I’m going to.
Always appreciative of your excellent recommendations ~ thanks!
Welcome back home ~ glad you had a great vacation!
Blessings,
Katie
