It’s hard to believe that by the beginning of next week our little Munchkin will be 11. I’m not sure how that happened. She’s still our little girl, but she’s growing up…
Munchkin hasn’t had a birthday party with friends for quite some time, so we decided that this year she would get to have a birthday party. When we were at the thrift store several months back, we found an American Girl Mystery party game. We knew that we would use that for Munchkin’s birthday party. Since there were only so many parts for the mystery party skit, it limited how many people would be attending the party.
I decided that we would personalize things a bit instead of just using the game as is out of the box. I made up invitations, and Munchkin passed them out to her friends. From what I can tell, everyone is very excited about the event. It’s something that is different.
As you can see, we chose to have the party colors be pink and brown as Munchkin likes those colors. Last night, I started working on the pinata. I’m doing the classic paper mache over a balloon technique. I am using a heart-shaped balloon to add a little more interest to the shape. Today, I added another layer to the paper mache. Tomorrow, I plan on starting the painting process.
My other project for today was starting to make the gift bags. I wanted the gift bags to be something that the girls would be able to use even after the party. I designed these reversible bags. The color is off because it’s too dark in my room right now, but the bags are in a pink and brown color to match the party theme.
I have many other fun things planned. We’ll see how many of them get done. Munchkin has also decided that she wants an ice cream cake. Since her party is on Sunday afternoon, I’ll probably make that either Friday or Saturday. As of right now, the cake will also be in the pink and brown theme. She has several requests for the cake, but I’m still trying to figure out all of the details.
I’m also working on getting the house cleaned up and ready for the party. Needless to say, my computer time is pretty limited this week. I’m still trying to get caught up from last week, so I’m very sorry for not getting around to everyone’s blogs or not commenting these last couple of weeks. I’m still reading. Thank you for your patience.

I’m sure her party will be great (even if I don’t get everything done). All of the girls are very excited.
