An Afternoon Drive

Posted in Family, and Photography

Today, D drove for the first time since his surgery.  Since he really enjoys driving, this is a big deal for him.  We didn’t go very far, and I was there “just in case”.  Gradually, we’ll build him back up to his normal driving and what not.  It’s a slower process than he would like, but he’s doing well.  When it comes time for him to head back to work, it looks like he’ll actually be ready this time around.  Last time, I had a few text messages from a Marine saying the I needed to get him back to…

Fun with Cousins

Last night, due to some unknown issues, I had to do a factory reset on my smartphone.  I set out to make sure all of my pics and what not were all backed up “just in case”.  The fun thing about that whole ordeal was that I saw some of the pics on my phone that I took over the summer which I had forgotten about.  I came across this picture of Munchkin and her cousins. I took this right after we picked them up at the airport.  The girls were with us (D and I) while the other adults…

Lego Racing

Posted in Family, and Photography

As I mentioned yesterday, D is a big kid at heart which means that he really enjoys putting together Lego sets with Munchkin.  Before his surgery, Munchkin and I found a really cool Lego racing set in the clearance area at Walmart.  It was a great price, so we snatched it up.  I debated whether I would wait until Christmas or allow them to have fun with it after D’s surgery.  Ultimately, I decided that it would be a nice thing for them to work on together while he was recovering.  (Yes, we’re trying to keep Daddy’s mind occupied during…

Creative Play

For the most part, I love that my husband is a big kid at heart.  I admit that there are days that it drives me crazy, but overall, it’s a good thing.  That being said, it can lead to some pretty crazy play around our house. Today, Daddy and Munchkin build a catapult (from a kit that we’re reviewing).  Once it was assembled, the crazy play began.  Hmm… I wonder how far this will fly?  What do you think this will do?  Finally, I had to tell Munchkin that certain objects needed to be taken into an area where nothing…

And Then There Were Two

Posted in Family, and Photography

We knew the time would come when we would need to seek new homes for our girls (guinea pigs).  We wanted to wait until they were old enough to comfortably be away from their mom if that is what the new adoptive situation necessitated.  Unfortunately, knowing the time will come doesn’t make it any easier when the day actually arrives. Today was the day that we said goodbye to our sweet girls.  Munchkin tried to be brave, but eventually, she broke down in tears as she said her final goodbyes to each sweet guinea pig.  It is strange not hearing…
