As I mentioned yesterday, D is a big kid at heart which means that he really enjoys putting together Lego sets with Munchkin. Before his surgery, Munchkin and I found a really cool Lego racing set in the clearance area at Walmart. It was a great price, so we snatched it up. I debated whether I would wait until Christmas or allow them to have fun with it after D’s surgery. Ultimately, I decided that it would be a nice thing for them to work on together while he was recovering. (Yes, we’re trying to keep Daddy’s mind occupied during this recovery period. It helps keep his mind off the pain and the fact that he’s not allowed to do much at this point in time. Which means, it also helps my sanity. lol!)
Munchkin and D put together the set while we all watched a taped episode of Food Network Challenge. The funny thing was that the episode was Lego cakes! It was pretty cool how that worked out. (I’m very thankful for our dvr which allows us to watch tv on our schedule and fast forward through all of the commercials.)
While the second back surgery was a bummer, it’s been a real blessing for D and Munchkin to be able to spend so much time together. It’s a shame that he had to have another surgery, but we’re definitely focusing on the positive right now rather than the negative.
This post is part of the 2011 Gratitude Challenge.
