Working on Growing Old Together

Posted in Family

It’s hard to believe 15 years have passed since D and I said “I do”. Time has passed. We’ve gotten older. We were young back then. Yes, we were young, but we had already faced hardship and loss together before we exchanged our rings. We didn’t look at marriage or life with rose colored glasses, but we did have hope, faith, and love. We would build our marriage on those building blocks. We would make mistakes along the way, but we would make them together and learn as we went along. We decided that we would love each other forever…

An Early Anniversary Surprise

Posted in Family, and Photography

On Sunday, Daddy and Munchkin headed out to the grocery store to get much needed groceries. Our pantry, fridge, and freezer were looking rather bare. Not having the staples is no fun. I made up a list of all the things we needed (at least as many as I could remember) because my head was hurting too much to venture out with them. Normally, sending them out for groceries is a tad dangerous as I never know what might make it into the cart, but this time very few extras found their way home. One of the extras was a…

Cave Creek Regional Park Wildlife

One of the things that Munchkin wanted to do for her birthday was go to the zoo or the aquarium. To do this, we could either head over to the San Diego area or over to the Phoenix area. We wanted to take a long weekend trip instead of just heading over for the day. Because we really enjoy camping at Cave Creek Regional Campground, we chose to head over to the Phoenix area from Thursday to Sunday. The trip had a bit of a rocky start as I got hit with a migraine on Wednesday evening after we finished…

Happy 13th Birthday, Munchkin!

Our baby girl is 13. It’s hard to believe we’re parents to a teenager. Munchkin’s requested meals for her birthday from top to bottom all gluten free: homemade french toast sticks with fresh strawberries, turkey sandwich with apple slices, baked mac ‘n cheese with tomato salad, strawberry shortcake in the shape of a heart. Daddy gave Munchkin this ring for her birthday. It’s inscribed with Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Accepting the Uncertainty of Military Life

Posted in Family, Military Life, and Photography

Over the past year, we’ve had a great deal of uncertainty enter our lives. With D having 2 back surgeries, we didn’t know if he’d recover enough to continue his career in the Marine Corps. The truth is, we’re still not completely certain where we stand with that as he’s still on limited duty and hasn’t fully recovered from the last back surgery. We were told we were heading to Japan as our next duty station, so we went through the process of getting ready for that only to have D denied (as expected) due to his medical situation. Now,…
