Establishing a New Routine

Posted in Family, Homemaking, and Homeschooling

We’re still getting settled into the new place even though we’ve been here a little over a month now. I was on track to have the house completely unpacked and organized on record pace until we started volunteering at the horse rescue. You see, we were immediately drawn into helping there as there is so much that needs to be done. Both Munchkin and I really enjoy our time there even though it is hard work. Because of this, we’re still trying to find a good schedule that works for us. Right now, we’re working/volunteering at the ranch between 4…

The back roads were quite bumpy and narrow at points. Having another vehicle coming from the other direction took some fancy maneuvering for both parties. D loved every…

Saying Goodbye to Zion

Zion came to the rescue with Dixie (Munchkin’s foster horse) and Gypsy. He had some health issues, but we didn’t realize how bad until today. Zion pretty much become my horse since he came into the rescue that day a little over two weeks ago. We really bonded as I took care of him. I was even able to ride him on Tuesday. Unfortunately, on Wednesday, he took a turn for the worse. Today, Thursday, we took him to the vet. He had choke caused by a tumor in his throat. Sadly, this tumor meant that he could no longer…

Dixie’s Surgery

Posted in Family, and Homeschooling

Today was quite the interesting day which involved a “field trip” to a local vet to have Dixie’s tumor removed from her leg. Please note: some of this images may be disturbing to some people. I decided to post the pictures in black and white, so the images will be a little less graphic than their color form. Dixie, if you recall, is Munchkin’s foster horse at the horse rescue. Dixie came to the rescue with a large tumor on her leg. It needed to be removed, so Isabel (the owner of the rescue) set up an appointment with the…
