Grandma and Grandpa Visit the Cabin

Looking out over ridge

Originally, the cabin repair was scheduled to be completed by the end of December, so a visit from Grandma and Grandpa was scheduled. They had a business conference a few hours away from the cabin, so we thought we’d take advantage of it. We’re always happy to spend time with family. πŸ™‚ Unfortunately, as you already know, the cabin repairs were no where near being done, but it turned out okay. We were grateful for the reprieve from the craziness and really enjoyed our time together.

We met up with Grandma and Grandpa late Friday afternoon. Since it was nearly time for supper, we decided it would be nice to meet at a local pizza place that offers gluten free pizza before bringing them back to the cabin. It was dark by the time we got back, so they couldn’t really take in the views that night. We had fun showing off the cabin even in a state of… well… mess. lol!

The next day, D decided that it would be fun to go out and do some exploring. My Dad had rented a Jeep as their rental vehicle, so I road with D in his truck while Munchkin road with Grandma and Grandpa in the Jeep. She thought riding in the Jeep was quite fun. Unfortunately, Grandma didn’t find it quite as fun due to the rather bumpy, crazy roads.

We stopped at one location to look out over the ridge. We thought we might be able to see the cabin from where we were at, but it turns out that it was on a different ridge. It was still a beautiful view.

Of course, D’s desire to figure out how to get to a certain trail meant that we would do quite a bit more exploring. Our day was far from over. In fact, the day lasted much longer than expected due to some dead end roads. Some of the roads were on the map, but when we took them they didn’t exist. **sigh**

Historic Limestone Kiln

Along the way, we came across this old historic kiln which was pretty cool. Finally, as the sun was setting, we made our way back to the cabin and relaxed for the night. The next day would prove to be another fun adventure – only this time, it was going to be at the Grand Canyon.
