On Saturday, D was itching to head out off-roading with his truck. It had been some time since we’ve been out as his truck had been down due to needed repairs. Before we left on vacation, he was able to complete the repairs on his truck, but we didn’t have time to test out the truck prior to leaving.
It was a scorching hot day, so we made sure that we had enough water. While we didn’t plan on doing any/much hiking, we always go prepared in case something comes up. You don’t want to be stuck out in the desert without water. We also packed a picnic lunch for while we were out.
We haven’t explored very much of Barry Goldwater Range, so we headed out that way. Since this is an active military bombing range, you need to have a map and a permit. It’s critical that you stay on the roads and read the signs. We chose to head down El Camino Del Diablo – “The Road of the Devil”.
At one point, we needed to get out and walk the road to see where it went. After looking things over, we decided that we would turn around and go in a different direction. The decision to turn around ended up being a good one because we stumbled across this…
We peered over the hill and saw the big horn sheep in the cave. D stopped the truck, and I tried to work my way over to get some better shots. He looked at me, and I looked at him. I would love to say that I got some wonderful shots, but I’ll take a few okay shots over no shots at all. **grin**
All too soon, he disappeared into the rocky terrain, and the cave was once again empty.
Slowly, we made our way back to civilization and back home. We had a delightful day of exploring and enjoying God’s Creation.
I would say you got some fantastic shots, he was a big fella & he was looking right at you 🙂 Beautiful! Glad things worked out with the truck & that you were able to have a great day! Have a good night & God Bless 🙂
Great shots. It’s so cool that you came across that big horn sheep.
