Last week, we headed up north to escape some of this summer heat. We thought it would be fun to go back to a campground that we had hit a couple of years ago when D first had his dirt bike and I first started to drive the RZR. We were looking forward to the cooler weather and even some rain. Little did we know that our trip would have many obstacles along the way…
The plan was to head out on Tuesday after D got home from work. The fridge in the trailer did not want to cool down, so I carefully packed a cooler with our food and hoped that it would cool down by the next day. As D prepped the trailer for our trip, Munchkin and I loaded everything else up and got the dogs (and guinea pig) ready for the road.
We ended up getting a little later start then we had hoped for, but we were finally on our way. As we’re driving along, we start to experience a bumpy ride, so we stop and check things out. Everything looks okay… We thought maybe it was just the road and head back out.
When we hit the really smooth road and things are still “off” we know that something is wrong. We find a safe place to pull off the road and start to check things out again. It turns out that one of the tires on the truck had a major failure, but we caught it before it blew. (Thank you Lord!!!) If it would have failed while we were heading up the mountain… well, it would have been bad. It took some time to get the tire changed, but eventually, we were back on the road again.
Unfortunately, this delay meant that we were going to be pulling the trailer through a crazy curvy mountain road at night and trying to find a campsite at night. Oh well, what are you going to do? When we finally arrived at the campground, it was pitch black, so we got out flashlights and worked at finding a site that would work for us. We managed to get everything set up without too much trouble until we went to put the slides out. Something was wrong. D was outside under the trailer in the dark with just a flashlight trying to figure it out.
Eventually, we got it working enough to get the slides out, so we could settle in for the evening. We had more interesting things happen during this trip, but that’s all for the first night.
pleased you found that tire before it blew
looking forward to reading more about your trip
