It’s always fun to be able to give guests little treats when they come to visit. I first made these little treat containers when Munchkin was little. I would have a basket by the door so we could hand them out to guests as they left. I’ve used them to jazz up stocking stuffers as well. They’re quick, easy, and use things that you probably already have around the house. To make it easier, I created a free printable candy cane wrapper. Because you may be filling with gender specific treats, I went ahead and made both a red & white version as well as a green & white version. This allows you to put treats for boys in one color and treats for girls in the other, if desired. You can also use scrapbook paper that you have around or use your kids artwork. Have fun with this simple craft!
Supplies (per container):
- Candy Cane Wrapper
- Tissue Paper
- 8.5 X 11 (roughly) piece of clear cellophane, clear plastic wrap, or an magazine mailing wrapper
- (2) 12 inch pieces of curling ribbon
- 1 cardboard toilet paper roll
- Small treats, candies
- Tape (I like 2 sided for ease of use.)
Directions:
- Print out Candy Cane Wrapper (at 100%) and cut it out. You’ll need one wrapper per treat container.
- Tape one end of the wrapper to the cardboard tube and wrap around the tube securing the other end with tape.
- Place small treats, candies in the tube.
- Insert small squares of tissue paper into the ends of the tube to keep the treats secure and add the element of surprise.
- Wrap cellophane/plastic wrap/other clear plastic sheet around the tube. (The short edge of the sheet will go against the long edge of the tube.) Secure with tape, if desired.
- Tie curling ribbons on the ends of the tubes and curl with scissors.
- Repeat as often as necessary to create lots of Candy Cane Treat Containers.
