Cheerios sendCheer Giveaway

Cheerios sendCheer

As you know, I’m extremely excited to be part of the Cheerios sendCheer campaign.  Here’s a very brief overview of the program:

  • This fall, specially-marked boxes of Cheerios cereal will feature Cheer postcards on the front of the box. Shoppers can simply cut out the postcard from the Cheerios logo, write a message of thanks on the back, add a stamp and mail the pre-addressed card to the USO. The USO will deliver the Cheer card to military families across the country.
  • For each postcard received through November 2012, Cheerios will make a $1 donation to the USO to help fund programs that support military families.
  • During the campaign kick off, Cheerios donated $150,000 to the USO, and they will continue to donate up to an additional $100,000 based upon the number of postcards received from specially marked boxes through November 30th, 2012.

To help you join the campaign and spread some cheer to our military families, I am able to give away one of the cool prize packs featured above.  You’ll receive a sendCheer box of Cheerios, a Cheerios bowl, a Cheerios spoon, and a very cool cereal dispenser.

GIVEAWAY – Open to US Residents Only – Ends 11/30

sendCheer – Remember Our Military Families During the Holidays

Posted in Military Life

As an active duty Marine Corps family, we normally enjoy our military lifestyle, but it’s not easy.  Obviously, one of the most difficult things about life as a military family is the separations and deployments.  Celebrating holidays without your loved ones is difficult – especially if you’re many miles away from your extended family.  You’re already feeling like you have to be both spouses to your child.  Most activities center around families during the holidays, and you’re all too aware that there is a family member missing.  You try to keep both yourself and the kiddos busy, so you don’t…

Vanilla Sugar & Vanilla-Cinnamon Spice

Posted in Gluten Free, Homemaking, and Photography

Mmmm… The yummy holiday scents are filling the air due to making some vanilla sugar and vanilla-cinnamon spice for holiday baking (as well as for the rest of the year).  Little flecks of vanilla bean pepper my white kitchen counter and the room smells delightful. Yesterday, when I wrote about the homemade vanilla extract, I said to make sure you didn’t toss those used vanilla beans.  Well, I thought I’d go ahead and show you why it’s a great idea to re-purpose those beans that still have plenty of vanilla flavor in them.  It seems a little funny calling it a recipe…

Homemade Vanilla Extract

Mmmm… Homemade vanilla extract Back in January, I decided to make some of my own homemade vanilla extract.  Part of the whole process is allowing it to sit – for a long time – in a dark place.  It’s when of those fix it and forget about it type of things.   Well, finally, the time came when we could start using it.  It’s so much better than store bought vanilla extract.  I am so glad that I decided to go ahead and make it. My problem was that I wanted some cute storage containers for the extract, and I…

An Afternoon Drive

Posted in Family, and Photography

Today, D drove for the first time since his surgery.  Since he really enjoys driving, this is a big deal for him.  We didn’t go very far, and I was there “just in case”.  Gradually, we’ll build him back up to his normal driving and what not.  It’s a slower process than he would like, but he’s doing well.  When it comes time for him to head back to work, it looks like he’ll actually be ready this time around.  Last time, I had a few text messages from a Marine saying the I needed to get him back to…
