A Working Stove and Oven

Posted in Holidays, and Homemaking

Slice of Snickers Cake

I had always taken a working stove/oven for granted until we started renting a house where the oven was completely unreliable and the burners on the stove didn’t work quite right.  Then, D blessed me at our previous house with a very nice stove/oven, and I realized, once again, how nice it was to have a quality, working appliance.

In this house, I have a nice gas stove/oven that works.  While it may not be as nice as the one at our last house, it keeps an even, consistent temperature in the oven and all of the burners work well.  Thanks to a good working stove/oven, I was able to make the delicious GFCF Snickers cake for Munchkin and D today.

On a daily basis, I’m able to provide my family with healthy meals, baked goods, and special treats.  I am so grateful to have a working oven/stove.  It makes my job much more enjoyable and easier.

This post is part of the Gratitude Challenge, and a Month of Thanksgiving.

  2. Looks like a great cake! I hope everyone enjoyed it. It can be frustrating renting and not having everything working properly, I am glad you have an oven that works properly.

  3. Thanks for coming by my blog. I checked out some of yours and we have quite a bit in common (close, not exactly).

I’ve moved around a lot, but because of ministry, not military. My youngest child was born in Flagstaff when we were at a church in Sedona for two years.

My oldest is 11, but a boy. I don’t homeschool, but teach 19 second graders. I don’t have any Marine ties, unless you count my Dad wearing a Marine hat at the VA Center where he lives. It’s really comical. He has Ahlzheimer’s and always has a different hat on that’s not his – he was in the Air Force, not Marines. It just doesn’t really matter to him at this point what his hat says! :0)

It is wonderful to having working appliances! I just used mine for a delicious ham that also brought wonderful scents to our home and then heated the kitchen afterwards.

    Have a wonderful week.

  5. We made that cake, too. It was soo good! I am so happy that Betty Crocker makes GF cake mixes now.

When we moved into this house, the stove/oven were like your last one. I used to talk to it, (and not say very nice things) The only blessing that came from that was that I became a whiz with the crockpot and toaster oven. =)
