Munchkin is going to be starting up with the Keepers of the Faith – Keepers at Home program. I have an old book, so we decided to get started with the program while we wait for the new materials to arrive. After looking over the lessons, we decided that one of the lessons that could be started right away was cleaning. To make things a bit more fun, Munchkin and I are having the Great Bathroom Throwdown today.
What is the Great Bathroom you ask? Well, Munchkin will be cleaning her bathroom while I clean the master bathroom. We’re having a race to see who can get it done the quickest, but it has to be done thoroughly. Our guest judge at the end of the day? Daddy. D will be judging the bathrooms once he gets home to make sure the job was done right and not just fast.
We plan on continuing on with this throwdown theme throughout the next week and a half in order to get the house ready for our company. D’s parents are heading our way in a little less than 2 weeks. It should be a fun way to get the house cleaned. We do plan on incorporating some reward into the throwdown. We just haven’t decided exactly what quite yet.
Cleaning different rooms in the house 1 day a week for 4 weeks is part of Munchkin’s Keepers at Home program. For any jobs where she doesn’t know exactly what to do, I will be instructing her as she does the work. Daddy will decide if the job was done right, since Mommy tends to be a little more lenient when it comes to some of these tasks. Once Daddy feels that the lessons have been completed in a satisfactory manner for the specified amount of time, he will sign off on the lesson.
I look forward to this learning experience. I’m sure to learn to new skills along with Munchkin, and pick up some positive, new habits along the way.
Do you ever use games or challenges to make cleaning more fun at your house? I’d love to hear your ideas if you do.

I think that this is a great idea! Please keep us posted!
Sounds like a fantastic idea – one that I will definitely keep in mind when my little one is old enough. Good luck!
What a great idea:-) Somehow my kids always work harder when they are trying to beat dear old mom. I might have to try this some time.
