First Basketball Game

Posted in Family

Saturday was the first basketball game of the season. Munchkin is playing on one of the base basketball teams, and Daddy is her coach. She’s thrilled because there are 3 other girls on her team. Yes, it’s blurry, but I still love this picture. Munchkin’s trying to steal the ball which she did do successfully several times during the game. Hustling back to play defense. (They’re not allowed to do a full court press at this age in this league.) Trying to get a rebound. (They were pretty tired by this point as only 5 members of their team were…

Organic & Gluten Free Bargains

Posted in Family, and Thrifty Ideas

When we first arrived here, we decided to look around to see what was in the area. We checked out what stores were available and where they were located. On our way to check out something (I can’t remember what at this point in time), we saw this run down looking building that was labeled discount grocery store. We decided to check it out even though it didn’t look that great. My first impression was not good, but as we began to look around, we started finding lots of goodies. You had to really look through everything, but good deals…

Quarter Mile Math Review

Posted in Homeschooling, and Reviews

Munchkin is good with math, but she does her math very slowly. She hates timed drills and quickly grows frustrated when she can’t think of the answers to simple problems during the drill. We’ve tried various methods to get over this issue, but nothing has really worked. We had tried a demo of The Quarter Mile Math a few years ago, but I had forgotten about it due to moving shortly after trying out the product. When The Quarter Mile Math package arrived in the mail, Munchkin exclaimed, “Hey, it’s the horse race program.” Obviously, the program had made an…

Evening Prayer

Continuation of David’s prayers from last Sunday. Psalm 4 1 Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer! 2 O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah 3 But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him. 4 Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be…

Growing Up & Responsibility

Posted in Thoughts

A few weeks ago, Munchkin pet sat for our neighbors for 3 days. They were quite pleased with the job that she had done. She loved the responsibility and pride that came with working hard and earning her own money. When she found out that they would need someone to take care of their pets for 2 weeks, she jumped at the opportunity. They weren’t planning on asking her as they thought it would be too much for someone her age, so they were pleased when she volunteered. (They verified with me that it wouldn’t be too much for her…
