The Case of the Missing Leftovers

Posted in Family

I’ve always enjoyed a good breakfast, but the truth is that more often than not, I prefer to have that big breakfast later in the day – say at lunch or dinner. 😉 Since I knew that we were going to be heading out of town the next day, I made up a gluten free pecan apple puff pancake for us to eat for dinner last Saturday. I knew there would be leftovers for breakfast the next day. What I didn’t know is that a certain dog (**cough** Wiley **cough**) would decide that he really liked apple puff pancake as…

A Watermelon Summer

Posted in Family, and Photography

It’s almost July, and pretty much all of the farmer’s markets and roadside stands have been closed for some time. You see when most of the country is enjoying the bountiful harvest of the warm summer months, our area of the country shuts down due to the scorching arid desert heat of the summer. Yet, there is one thing that can still be seen for sale on the roadside – watermelon. Watermelon and summer seem to go hand in hand no matter where in the continental U.S. you live. I can remember back when Munchkin was just little. We were…

Paw Protection with Ultra Paws Dog Boots

Posted in Homesteading, and Reviews

Special thanks to Paw Posse for providing the Ultra Paws Dog Boots for us to test out with Wiley.  Around here, the summer temps soar which means the desert sand gets hot – really hot. Even the callused, rough paws of our two crazy pups have to be protected in the heat of the day on hikes. The problem is that many types of dog boots don’t stay on well – at all. That’s not the case with Ultra Paws Dog Boots. Ultra Paws Dog Boots have a unique 2 velcro-strip fastening system with foam comfort pads that allow the…

Tissues, Toilet Paper, and Cardboard Tubes?

Posted in Family

My dogs are a little crazy. In many households, one dog will have some crazy quirk, but it’s not shared by his canine companions. That is not the case at our house. Our two pups share almost all of their crazy quirks. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that they feed off each other’s quirks which ultimately makes it appear like they’re trying to out do each other. Did I mention they’re a little crazy? Today, they were fighting over a cardboard tube (you know from toilet paper or paper towels?). They kept snagging the tube from…

Wyatt and the Rocking Chair

Posted in Family, and Photography

One of Wyatt’s favorite hiding spots is under the rocking chair. He’ll grab a toy or treat and go run to the rocking chair to hide from Wiley. He also just likes to hang out under it, but I have to watch him as he also likes to chew on it when no one is watching. This is the rocking chair from my childhood. It’s had it’s fair share of abuse, but it’s held up well over the years. Wyatt isn’t the first little puppy to like it. I have a feeling that he won’t be the last either. Training is…
