The Case of the Missing Leftovers

Gluten Free Pecan Apple Puff Pancake

I’ve always enjoyed a good breakfast, but the truth is that more often than not, I prefer to have that big breakfast later in the day – say at lunch or dinner. 😉 Since I knew that we were going to be heading out of town the next day, I made up a gluten free pecan apple puff pancake for us to eat for dinner last Saturday. I knew there would be leftovers for breakfast the next day. What I didn’t know is that a certain dog (**cough** Wiley **cough**) would decide that he really liked apple puff pancake as well. We really enjoyed it for dinner, but breakfast the next day just didn’t happen due to missing leftovers.

This wasn’t the end of it though… We wanted to eat some lunch before we hit the road, so I pulled out the leftover rotisserie chicken and picked all the meat off the bones. D asked me to help him with something, so I pushed the plate of meat to the back of the counter and headed outside. (I’m sure you can guess where this is headed, right?) Well, when I came back into the house a certain dog was licking his chops and the plate was empty. Yep, we had another case of missing leftovers. **sigh** I ended up scrambling and putting something together based upon the limited items available that had not been packed in the cooler for the trip.

For whatever reason, Wiley has now decided that he likes grabbing food from the counter. grrrr! It wasn’t previously an issue (other than him liking to grab the butter when we weren’t looking), but it appears that we have some additional  training to do with this crazy pup. On a more positive note, both dogs are doing much better with the stay command (in the house – outside, they need a good bit of work). Life with dogs is always an adventure. 😉
