Practicing with Long Swords

Posted in Family, and Holidays

Between the archery and Munchkin’s knight costume, it’s probably no surprise that Munchkin likes the medieval time period. She’s always thought that sword fighting was rather cool, so when I saw high impact practice long swords on sale, I knew that I had the perfect Christmas present for Daddy and Daughter. It was hard keeping the secret from the two of them as I was really excited. 😉 I saved that present for last, and I’m glad that I did as the swords were a huge hit. I did have to tell them that sword play was reserved for outside.…

A Fun Bestie Surprise

Posted in Family, and Military Life

On Tuesday, I received a text message from Munchkin’s best friend’s mom (who, for now, lives in North Carolina). They were heading through our neck of the woods after visiting with family, and there was the possibility that we would be able to meet up. Back and forth the texting went as we plotted behind our daughter’s backs to get the two of them together if only for a short period of time as they made their way from point A to point B. It was hard not to say anything as I was excited that Munchkin was going to…

Getting Back into the Blogging Groove

Posted in Family, and Military Life

After nearly a month and a half of internet only on my phone unless we hit the library, I finally have high speed internet again. It’s something that I took for granted, so it was a wake-up call not to have even dial-up available. What it did allow was lots of great time to be spent with Munchkin (and D when he was around). Our time at the cabin, while not always relaxing, was refreshing. We are now getting settled into our new place in CA. Yes, we still have the cabin and will continue to work on it as…

You… Complete Me

As we celebrate 16 years of marriage, I am so grateful that D is finally on the mend. Oh, he still has issues with his back and knees, but he’s able to do most things even if it’s on a smaller scale than prior to all of the health issues. It’s funny how I, to some extent, took for granted that he could do pretty much anything. If I needed him to move something or build something, he’d do it. (It didn’t always happen right away, but it got done.) Going through the health issues made me more grateful for…

What Day is It?

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

The last couple of weeks we’ve been finding ourselves struggling to keep track of what day it is. Changes in our schedules have just thrown us for a loop. Munchkin’s TaeKwonDo has switched from Monday, Wednesday, Friday to Tuesday, Thursday, Friday which has definitely caused a bit of confusion as we adjust to it. Our Azure Standard delivery switched from Thursday to Wednesday this month. (It’s been on Thursday for as long as I’ve been ordering.) I kept thinking it was Thursday all day yesterday. We’re trying to nail down our packout and moving date, but D has been so…
