Frugal Friday: Moving Tips

Posted in Thrifty Ideas

This week’s Frugal Friday tip has to do with moving because that’s what we’re dealing with at our house this week. How to move on a budget… Moving can get very costly (and stressful) when you don’t plan ahead. Normally, we would be having the military move us, but this time around we’ll be moving ourselves. One thing that is really cutting down on the cost is that we’re receiving packing boxes from a local business for free. We just need to go pick them up whenever we need them. This last time, we received a huge stack that should…

Easter Chimes

We’ve been reading a book called Easter Chimes: Stories for Easter and the Spring Season by Wilhelmina Harper. Each evening, we’ve settled down before bed for a good story from this book. Some of the stories are religious and talk about the true meaning of Easter while other stories are just fun stories about spring. It’s been interesting to read some of these tales from years past. (The revised copyright on this book in 1965). My daughter (and myself) have truly enjoyed our readings. Now that my husband is home, he’s enjoying the readings as well. There are also several…

Booking Through Thursday: The Bible

Posted in Blogging

Booking Through Thursday 1. Just out of curiosity, as we enter into Passover and Easter season… have you ever read the Bible? Just the odd chapter or Psalm? The whole thing? (Or, almost the whole thing? It’s some heavy reading, of course, and those “begats” get kind of tedious.) Yes, I’ve read through the whole Bible. 2. If so, was it from religious motivation or from a literary perspective? Stuck with nothing else to read in a hotel room the Gideon’s have visited? Any combination? I was younger when I read through the Bible (though I do want to read…

Thankful Thursday: Celebration of Life

Posted in Family

This week is the ultimate celebration of life. We are celebrating both the life and the death of Christ. Without Christ’s death and then His resurrection, we would be without hope for the future here on earth and peace for eternal salvation. As we remember the ultimate sacrifice that God and Jesus made many years ago, we also need to treasure the lives we’ve been given here on earth. We never know what tomorrow holds for us. All that we know for sure is that we have the here and now. Let’s treasure these times. This week, I am very…

Being a Light

Posted in Thoughts

The life of Christ is a perfect example of how we should live our lives and celebrate our time here on earth. As Christians, we know that we have eternal life in heaven one day. We do not need to fear death as it has no power over us. Death brings us new life in heaven. How we live our lives here on earth defines how well we will be able to enter into Heaven. We want to hear, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Do we live each day like Jesus is in the room? Or would we…
