We’ve been reading a book called Easter Chimes: Stories for Easter and the Spring Season by Wilhelmina Harper. Each evening, we’ve settled down before bed for a good story from this book. Some of the stories are religious and talk about the true meaning of Easter while other stories are just fun stories about spring.
It’s been interesting to read some of these tales from years past. (The revised copyright on this book in 1965). My daughter (and myself) have truly enjoyed our readings. Now that my husband is home, he’s enjoying the readings as well.
There are also several poems in the book such as this one by Nancy Byrd Turner:
Down a sunny Easter meadow
Went a rabbit, running sprightly;
With him went his skippy shadow
Tag, they played, and played it lightly.
All the robins in the meadow
Called them as they jumped and scurried,
“Hurry, Bunny! Hurry, Shadow!
Easter’s coming! And they hurried.
If you’re looking for something a little different to do this year for Easter, why not pick up some good books about Easter and read together as a family.
What a cute poem – Thanks for sharing it!
