How we live our lives here on earth defines how well we will be able to enter into Heaven. We want to hear, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Do we live each day like Jesus is in the room? Or would we be embarrassed to find out that Jesus was right there with us?
God is all around us. He is in the beauty of nature as the new buds blossom in spring. He is in the soft pitter patter of the rain. He is in the warm of the sun shining down on us. Spring is the perfect time to renew our relationship with Christ.
Just as we prepare our gardens in the spring, we need to prepare our hearts and minds for God to help us grow in His wisdom and grace. We need to be vigilant in weeding out the bad things in our lives before they take hold. Just like weeds in the garden are more difficult to get rid of as they take root; sins in our life are more difficult to get rid of in our lives as we allow them to grow.
Once we weed out the sins in our lives, we need to make sure we feed our desire to know God better. We must feed on the Word. We drink in all of its wondrous knowledge. We must allow the Word of God to take root in our lives. This can not happen if we do not spend time with God each day.
By reading God’s word and spending time with Him through prayer, we can begin to grow in Christ. Our lives will start to hold more meaning and purpose. We will be able to see that God is working through us. His light will begin to shine through us.
This Easter, as we celebrate Jesus’ death and resurrection, let’s allow Christ’s light and life to shine through us. Let’s be a glowing example of who Christ is. Let’s grow in Christ and help others grow in Christ. Let’s live our lives in a way that shows that each day is precious and that we value the time the Lord has given us here on earth.

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good workds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
