Thankful for Bountiful Baskets

Posted in Family, and Holidays

I know that I’ve talked about Bountiful Baskets on a variety of occasions, but I’m going to talk about it again. Our latest basket included a nice variety of fall vegetables and fruits. The extra that I really liked this time around was the fresh herbs. I’ve missed cooking with fresh herbs, so this was rather exciting for me. I now have cilantro, basil, oregano, rosemary, dill, sage, and parsley. The kitchen smells so good with the cilantro, parsley, and basil sitting on the counter. The other herbs are making the fridge smell lovely. One of the things that I…

Fitness Friday: ShapelyGirl Fitness Final Wrap-Up

Posted in Fitness, and Reviews

I have joined up with some other ladies from the CWA Review team to form a ShapelyGirl Fitness exercise group for the month of October. Each Friday during October, I’m going to post updates on how I’ve done for the week as a way to be held accountable. My final post will be on November 2, 2012 where I will wrap everything up and talk about my experience with the ShapelyGirl Fitness program. My month-long experience with the ShapelyGirl Fitness CWA team has officially come to an end. Will I be continuing with my journey? In a word, yes, but…

Archery Practice at the Homestead

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

Yes, we worked hard last week, but we also took some time out to relax and have a little fun here and there. As I wrote about previously, Munchkin has really taken to archery. After her archery class, she decided that she really wanted to have her own bow, so she could practice whenever as time allowed. She was willing to purchase it with her own money, so we knew that she was serious about it. Daddy and I decided that a bow and some arrows would be her Christmas present. Of course, we couldn’t actually wait until Christmas to…

My Birthday at the Homestead

Posted in Family, and Homesteading

Except for the sunset, these pictures were all taken prior to purchase of the cabin. The dogs were enjoying the cooler weather and the open spaces to run. Wiley quickly learned that if he listened and came when called that he didn’t have to be tied up or on a leash. His recall was wonderful. Wyatt, on the other hand, got so sidetracked by everything that he didn’t listen well. He found himself on leash a good bit of the time. We’re going to need to do some serious recall work with him so he can enjoy a bit more…

Visiting the Homestead

Posted in Family, and Homesteading

Except for the sunset, these are all pictures from when we were at the house prior to purchase. On Monday, we waited on pins and needles to see if the mortgage company would release the funding so we could close escrow. We didn’t want to pack up the trailer with things for the cabin if we wouldn’t be heading up there until later in the week. (At this point, we knew that we were definitely closing escrow, so it was just a matter of when it would happen.) As soon as we received word that the funding had gone through…
