The Freedom to Vote

A fledgling nation struggling to find the right course to become a great, independent nation. The Founding Fathers carefully crafted documents that would endow individuals with certain liberties/rights/freedoms, that would protect the powers of the states, that would set up a system of checks and balances for the federal government. They agonized hour after hour about each word that was placed into the document, so that the correct meaning would be given for the foundations being set up for this new nation. A Wise Old Owl

A wise old owl sat on an oak; The more he saw the less he spoke; The less he spoke the more he heard; Why aren’t we like that wise old bird? ~author unknown~ This beautiful owl has taken up residence in the bushes in our front yard. He/she has been there since D came home from the hospital. Letting Go of Our Plans

D’s second back surgery has been quite the reminder that all the planning in the world doesn’t mean a whole lot.  We always thought that D would be an active duty Marine up until retirement, and then we’d find a permanent home.  It looks like the Lord may have something else in mind.  We just don’t know for sure at this point in time.  All we know right now is that the Lord has a plan for our lives, so we’re going to trust Him to guide us and direct us.
