Thankful for Air Conditioning

Posted in Family, and Military Life

We woke up to a very hot Monday morning, not unlike most mornings here in the desert of Arizona. Only, today it wasn’t just hot outside – the inside of the house felt warm too. I headed over to the thermostat to see the temperature inside rising. Something was wrong with the air conditioning. I started up with the normal checks… air filter, breaker… Everything was fine. I moved outside. The unit was dead. The compressor wasn’t running. The fan wasn’t moving. Ugh! I call over to base housing maintenance, and they put in an emergency maintenance request. We should…

Last week, we had the opportunity to listen to Allen Bodenlos, a World War II Veteran who was at Pearl Harbor during the fatal bombing by the Japanese on December 7th, 1941. He watched as the USS Arizona and USS Oklahoma sank into the depths of Pearl Harbor. We stood there and listened intently as he told us about the sailors and Marines who were trapped inside the ships with no chance to escape. He also told us stories of bravery and sacrifice as service members put the lives of others before their own. Some would make it out alive…

Striving to be Content

Posted in Family, Military Life, and Photography

But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. ~ I Timothy 6:6-8 ~ There are times in life that I struggle with being content with where we are at or what we are doing. I am extremely grateful for the many blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon us. We have food (good food), water, and nice shelter from the elements. We have more than one vehicle which allows us not to…
