Guardian Angel Publishing offers an interesting selection of childrens books geared at ages 0-12.  They are unique in that they offer their books not only in print form, but also as an e-book on cd and as instant download e-book. Desert Lapbook

Munchkin decided that since we now live in a desert that we should do the desert lapbook that we received from A Journey Through Learning. We started off this mini unit by heading out on a field trip to the desert. We were able to see the desert before a rainstorm and after a rainstorm. It was interesting to see the differences. We were also able to see the desert during the day and at night. Munchkin expected to see many more animals at night, but that wasn’t the case for us. Then again, it may have helped if we…

Finding the Home in Homeschooling

As a homeschooler, I’ve heard the dreaded “socialization question” more than I would care to talk about. When someone asks if I think Munchkin is getting enough socialization (especially since she’s an only child), I think “really?? do you think we live under a rock??” While I may want to say that directly to them, I don’t. Instead, I pleasantly respond that she gets plenty of socialization and change the subject. Most people don’t really care if Munchkin is getting enough socialization. Adding Music to the Mix

Munchkin has shown some interest in playing the guitar for at least 2 years, but we weren’t sure she was serious about it. Just recently, she decided that she wanted to make a real commitment to learning to play. Some interesting conversations lead us to believe that this was a genuine desire that wasn’t going to go away quickly.
