Prelude to a Blog Giveaway and Review

Posted in Homeschooling, and Reviews

Should I or shouldn’t I create a blog for Munchkin? It could be good for her to have a place to showcase her own writings, drawings, and pictures. Yet, there are people out that that have less than honorable intentions towards kids. Yes, these are some of the thoughts that run through my head when I think about Munchkin blogging. Thankfully, Sisterlisa has written an e-book about this very subject, Prelude to a Blog: A homeschool mom’s guide to getting your child started in blogging. Prelude to a Blog isn’t just a book about getting your child started in blogging.…

Works for Me Wednesday: Workboxes

Posted in Homemaking, and Homeschooling

It seems like Sue Patrick’s workboxes are being talked about everywhere on the internet. The truth is, when I first heard about them, I didn’t see how they would help us, but I was still interested as it sounded like a cool concept. It wasn’t until I was able to attend one of Sue’s seminars during the HOTM online conference that I started to change my thinking about workboxes. I could immediately see many uses for it in our home. I was thrilled when I found…

Homeschool Fun

Thursday, our day started with some cool, refreshing fun. We had our first meeting with the newly formed homeschool group on base. We were pleased to see several familiar faces there as well as some new. We even reconnected with a friend that we had lost touch with several years ago. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures as we were all having such a good time of fellowship. One of the ladies was able to get a HUGE inflatable waterslide for the kiddos to play on. We were at the park, so the kids went back and forth between the…

SpellQuizzer Giveaway and Review

Posted in Homeschooling, and Reviews

When Dan from SpellQuizzer contacted me to find out if I’d like to do a giveaway of SpellQuizzer on my blog, I jumped at the chance. SpellQuizzer is a computer based spelling program that helps kids learn their spelling and vocabulary words. Parents and/or teachers can download one of the pre-made spelling lists, or they can input their own custom spelling lists. I had wanted Munchkin to try out this program as she enjoys computer based games and programs. Generally, she does not like spelling. Part of her problem is that she’s a perfectionist and gets frustrated when she can’t…
