Desert Lapbook

Posted in Homeschooling

Munchkin decided that since we now live in a desert that we should do the desert lapbook that we received from A Journey Through Learning.

We started off this mini unit by heading out on a field trip to the desert. We were able to see the desert before a rainstorm and after a rainstorm. It was interesting to see the differences. We were also able to see the desert during the day and at night. Munchkin expected to see many more animals at night, but that wasn’t the case for us. Then again, it may have helped if we were out camping and not riding around in a truck.

Munchkin pretty much did this unit on her own. She had fun filling in details from things she had actually seen and experienced.

I printed out animals, so Munchkin could make her own design for the cover.

We closed out this unit by watching the Magic School Bus episode – All Dried Up. While we have watched this several times before, I could see a new found appreciation for what was going on since she had experienced the desert for herself.
