Heading to India

Posted in Family, and Homeschooling

Currently, we’re doing a study on India, so Munchkin decided that she wanted to try to go with a traditional India costume.  We headed over to the thrift store to see what we could find.  We were able to pick up a shirt and pants for Munchkin as well as myself. (We’re going to be doing a Indian dinner and will be dressing up for that, so I picked up an outfit for myself while we were out.)  I found a head scarf for myself, but we couldn’t find one for Munchkin.  I decided to rip apart a skirt to…

Bible and Character Studies

As I wrote about a couple of weeks ago, one of the new things that we’ve added to Munchkin’s studies recently is the Keepers of the Faith: Keepers at Home program.  We’re still working on various details and figuring out exactly how we want to implement the program into our schedule, but slowing, the pieces are falling into place.  As part of the program, Munchkin will be working on Bible and character studies.  Using some resources I found online, I assembled 3 different workbooks to get her started. Eventually, a…

You don’t have to read my blog for long to know that we love spending time out in nature at our house.  From going off-roading in Daddy’s truck to riding dirt bikes to hiking, we try to get out and explore our area as often as possible. To aid us in our constant desire to learn more about our current location, we have purchased field guides for our specific area as well as the general southwestern region of the country.  These field guides allow us to try figure out what type of plant, bird, reptile, mammal, etc… we are looking…

Free 3-Part Writing Series – Conclusion

Posted in Announcements, Commercial Break, and Homeschooling

Jim Baumgardner’s final installment in his 3-part writing series at Creative Learners is now up.  I think it’s absolutely wonderful that he was willing to take time out of his schedule to help out budding writers with this free series. If you missed the rest of the series, you can check out my posts about Part 1 and Part 2. Mr. Jim’s newest book in the Sarah series, Sarah’s Quest, is scheduled to be released early in 2011.  We can’t wait!
