First Tomato

We’ve been patiently awaiting our first red tomato of the season in our garden. We have lots of green tomatoes on the plants (which is wonderful in and of itself), but alas, the red tomato has alluded us. Well, a couple of day ago we found one of our cherry tomatoes starting to turn red. This is what I found this morning!!

Tackle It Tuesday

My project for Tackle It Tuesday will be to finish laying the pavers that we removed from the patio area around the newly created fire pit (I used the old bricks from the steps). I started the project yesterday and hope to complete it today. Yesterday, D spent a bit of time taking out the first layer of brick steps from the back of the house in preparation of putting down the deck. Homemade Hammock

We received this hammock stand from someone who no longer needed it. I gladly took it as we’ve (munchkin and I) always wanted a hammock, but I knew that hammocks where not cheap. I decided that I would make a hammock. I just needed to find some inexpensive, but good material. I lucked out and found this material for only $1 a yard. I was able to make the hammock and three matching pillows for only $3. I think it turned out pretty well. We had to buy some hardware to hang the hammock for about $5 or so. So,…

Strawberry Pie

I started out with 2 buckets of strawberries and ended up with this nice, large bowl of strawberries. Some have been frozen for use later. Some have been eaten. Some were turned into 2 yummy strawberry pies! The key to this strawberry pie recipe is patience before eating as it really does need to set for a few hours at least (overnight is even better).
