Cleaning and Christmas Music

Posted in Family, and Homemaking

Today, Munchkin and I focused on some deep cleaning/organizing around the house.  You know those stash and dash cleanings you do before company comes over?  Well, maybe you don’t do that, but around here, we do.  (We’re getting better though. **grin**)  Somehow, half that stuff seems to stay in the closet/storage area, and it keeps building up.  That’s what we were tackling today. One by one, we brought bags of things down to the living room and went through them.  We listened to music and watched movies while we worked.  We still have more work to do.  I’m not sure…

Gluten Free Multi-Grain Cinnamon Rolls

Posted in Gluten Free, and Homemaking

I surprised both D and Munchkin today with a delicious pan of gluten free cinnamon rolls.  These are a special treat because I don’t make them that often.  D asked me to try to make some cinnamon rolls based upon my current multi-grain sandwich bread recipe as he really likes that bread.  I tweaked things a little and came up with this recipe.  It was a hit, and it wasn’t that difficult to make. Gluten Free Multi-Grain Cinnamon Rolls Recipe Dough Ingredients: 1/4 C Teff flour 1/4 C Brown Rice flour 1/4 C Amaranth flour 3/4 C Potato starch 1…

Christmas Crafts: Silent Night and Joy Signs

Posted in Holidays, and Homemaking

We wanted some fun signs to put up around the house, but we didn’t want to send lots of money to buy or make them.  Using cardstock and our Cricut, we were able to create these simple signs. For the Silent Night sign, we just used red cardstock for the letters and embellishments and a cream cardstock for the base. For the Joy sign, a little more creativity and work was involved.  For this one, we used a metallic blue cardstock for the lettering.  We then took a piece of tan cardstock and attached the letters to it using a…

Handmade Gifts: Wise Men Plaque

Posted in Holidays, and Homemaking

Munchkin and I were trying to come up with a unique gift for someone when we saw the phrase “Wise Men Still Seek Him”. We thought this would make a cool phrase to put on a plaque which would make a nice handmade CHRISTmas gift. Supplies: Plain wood plaque Black Paint Lettering (cut with Circut) Designs (cut with Cricut) Mod Podge Paint Brush Foam Brush Ribbon Tacks Directions: Lightly sand your wood plaque to remove any splinters or uneven spots.  Wipe down to remove dust. Paint the plaque black (or your desired color).  We only did one coat for ours.…
