Tackling My Goals 3 at a Time

Posted in Christian Life, Fitness, and Homemaking

What is 3 in 30?  In the simplest terms, it’s a group support system to accomplish 3 goals in 30 days.  Instead of having an overwhelming long list of goals sitting in front of me, I will set 3 goals to accomplish each month.  I’ll be breaking down that long list into manageable chunks of 3.  Plus, I’ll have the support system in place to encourage me as I strive to meet my goals each month. Each week of the month, there is a check-in on Friday. Each Friday is slightly different. The goal is to visit the others who…

The Season for Organization

Posted in Homemaking

It seems that a new year lends itself to reorganizing the house.  We’re already putting away Christmas decorations, and we’re on a bit of a break from the normal day-to-day routine.  It’s the perfect time to dive into getting things more organized.  After all, we do need to find new homes for the goodies that we received as gifts, and we need to say goodbye to some items that are no longer needed. Today, I spent some time organizing our storage closet.  The Christmas bins received new labels and many things were pulled out of the closet.  I set those…

Strawberries & Cream Challah Dessert

Posted in Gluten Free, and Homemaking

Using Jule’s gluten free challah bread recipe, I made two braided round challah bread loaves.  We ate one of them on Friday, and I decided that I would use the other one to make a special treat for Christmas.  We all thought it turned out really well and tasted delicious. Gluten Free Strawberries & Cream Challah Dessert Recipe Ingredients: 1 gluten free challah bread loaf 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream 1 tsp vanilla 4 Tbsp powdered sugar chocolate syrup (for drizzling) powdered sugar (for dusting) Strawberries (sliced) Directions: Slice loaf of bread in half to create a top and…

Gluten Free Cinnamon Peanut Butter Cookies

Posted in Gluten Free, and Homemaking

All you have to do is ask D or Munchkin to know that I sometimes try some crazy things in the kitchen.  I like to play with my food. **grin**  Today, I decided to make some flourless peanut butter cookies, but I wanted to try something slightly different.  The end result was some delicious, chewy, spicy peanut butter cookies. Gluten Free Cinnamon Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe Ingredients: 2 cups peanut butter (smooth or crunchy) 1 1/2 cups sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 2 tsp baking soda 2 eggs 1 tsp cinnamon (use less if you want a less spicy flavor)…

Sewing: Christmas Pajamas

Posted in Homemaking

Last year’s CHRISTmas pjs were such a huge hit, that Munchkin requested that I make the pjs again this year, but she wanted them to be long shorts instead of pants this year.  (Due to our warmer winter weather, the pjs get more use if they are shorts rather than pants.)  I’m just pairing the board shorts with plain t-shirts for easy, comfy pjs. I had picked up the material last year after Thanksgiving, but never got around to making the additional pjs bottoms as planned.  That worked out okay as now I had just the right amount of fabric…
