Haircut for Locks of Love

Posted in Family

Munchkin decided that it was time to cut her hair again for Locks of Love. Every few years, she decides to cut her hair for this wonderful cause. It’s been nearly 5 years since the last cut, so her hair has gotten quite long. We were able to cut a very nice ponytail to send to Locks of Love for use in a wig for a child. Munchkin decided she wanted some shorter bangs as well as some layers in her hair after the big ponytail cut. After a little tweaking, we arrived at what she wanted for her new cut.…

Starting to Pack

Posted in Family, and Military Life

It’s hard to believe that it’s time to start packing for our move. Part of that is because we plan on moving out of housing a bit early. The plan, which could change as it’s not set in stone yet, is to have the movers come in May, so we’ll be out of housing by the end of May. Daddy will stay in the trailer while Munchkin and I (along with the dogs) head up to the cabin. Daddy would probably come up there most weekends, but that all depends on what is going on. We haven’t worked out all…

Cabin Updates: New Floor and Laundry Room

Posted in Family, and Homesteading

Last Tuesday, Munchkin and I headed up to the cabin with the pups and the guinea pigs. D was over in 29 Palms, so we thought we’d get a little work done at the cabin while he was there. We also took this opportunity to enjoy some fun mommy daughter time. 😉 D drove over from 29 Palms later in the week once he completed his work stuff. We found ourselves working quite hard to complete some main things at the cabin including laying all of the floor in the cabin. Since I had already completed the master bedroom floor…

2013 Egg Hunt at the Cabin

Posted in Family, and Fun

Munchkin has always loved egg hunts. She was itty bitty when she went to her first one, and now, at almost 14, she still has a blast with them. A couple of weeks ago when we were up at the cabin, I decided to surprise her with an egg hunt. Things have been pretty crazy lately, and our trips to the cabin have been filled with work and not so much relaxing. While she understands the importance of getting things finished up, it doesn’t mean that she enjoys the process. I wanted to do something just for her to make…

Progress on the Cabin

Posted in Family, and Homesteading

We finally received our first check for the flooding damage at the cabin. It took over 3 months to receive the check which really did slow down some of the purchasing of needed products, but now we’re back on track. It’s taking longer than we would like to get things back together, but that’s what happens when you end up doing all the work yourselves. lol! That being said, we were able to make a good bit of progress last week. D finished up the plumbing (except for the burst pipe going to the evap cooler that caused all of…
