Remembering My Mom

Posted in Family

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 16 years since I said goodbye to my mom.  I was 20 years old and a little over a month away from marrying D.  My sister was a little over 2 months away from graduating from high school. Mom was just a shell of her former self, but she still wanted to make it to those important dates. On that morning, as I was talking to her, we let her know that it was okay to let go. Later that day, my mom went to her heavenly home where she was no longer…

The Case of the Missing Leftovers

Posted in Family

I’ve always enjoyed a good breakfast, but the truth is that more often than not, I prefer to have that big breakfast later in the day – say at lunch or dinner. 😉 Since I knew that we were going to be heading out of town the next day, I made up a gluten free pecan apple puff pancake for us to eat for dinner last Saturday. I knew there would be leftovers for breakfast the next day. What I didn’t know is that a certain dog (**cough** Wiley **cough**) would decide that he really liked apple puff pancake as…

Back Issues Times Two

Posted in Family

It’s no secret that D has had a lot of back issues over the past few years – basically since his last deployment. The 2 back surgeries took their toll, but at least he’s doing better. The pain is still there, but it’s generally on a decent level. (The pain will, most likely, never go away completely. It’s the nature of the beast so to speak.) He’s still working on getting back into form to be able to have better endurance and strength. His muscles just aren’t what they were prior to the surgeries. Building them back up takes time…

2013 Silver Spurs Rodeo

Posted in Family, and Military Life

We’ve lived here for nearly 4 years now, but we’ve never made it over to the rodeo. It just never seemed to work out. Well, this year, we broke that trend and finally made it over to the rodeo. Originally, we had planned on going on Friday night for military appreciation night, but Munchkin really didn’t want to miss any of her TaeKwonDo class. Since we didn’t want to miss out on any of the action, we decided to go on Sunday afternoon instead. (D had some things he wanted to get done on Saturday afternoon.) It was a beautiful…

Our 2013 Valentine’s Day

Posted in Family, and Holidays

Normally, I try to surprise Munchkin with some fun Valentine’s Day goodies and decorations when she comes downstairs in the morning. Unfortunately, those plans had to be set aside when our wireless router went haywire and stopped working. The good news was that the internet itself was working, but the bad news was that it took me a good chunk of the morning to get the router back up and running. Hey, at least I was able to get it to work rather than needing to purchase a new one. Sadly, that meant no fun surprises for Munchkin. 🙁 After…
