VBS & The Praying Mantis

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

On Friday, Munchkin had her VBS closing ceremony. Daddy was finally able to make it. Somehow, he has always been gone for VBS in the past, so it was a treat for him to be there for the performance. All the kids did a great job with the singing. Munchkin was bummed to see it all end, but she was also glad that she didn’t have to get up so early every morning. lol! They brought home all of their crafts on Friday, so it was fun seeing their different camp related projects. Today, we found this praying mantis on…

The Mean Mom

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

I believe that I’m quickly earning the title of the “mean mom” in our new neighborhood. Apparently the following items brand you as a mean mom: Your child is required to do her school work and chores before she plays. Your child is not allowed to go into people’s houses when we don’t know them. Your child needs to stay within earshot/eyesight of us (for the most part) instead of going all over the housing area. Your child has a normal bedtime routine that doesn’t include staying out after dark playing. Your child doesn’t always get her way even if…

Our 4th of July Weekend

Posted in Family, and Holidays

Our 4th of July weekend was filled with lots of good food and relaxing. Daddy had off on Friday, so we started the day off with a yummy gluten free coffee cake that I made. On Saturday, I made blueberry muffins with a berry medley on the side for breakfast. For lunch, Daddy grilled up some steaks, and I made a berry burst cake. For dinner, Munchkin decided that we should have patriotic pasta, so this is what I came up with for her. Daddy decided that he wanted his pasta the same way. lol! We took a nice long…

Lots of Projects

Today, we went to church for the first time since being here. We just picked a church that we knew had an Awana program during the school year as we felt that was a good place to start. It turns out that they had Patch the Pirate as their Sunday Children’s Church program. Munchkin really enjoyed that. We enjoyed the sermon as well. The people were extremely friendly and welcomed us with open arms. We look forward to seeing if this is the church where the Lord wants us to call home. Yesterday, D started building a much needed book…

Exploring Our New Area

Posted in Family

On Father’s Day, we were able to start exploring our new area. One of the things that we really enjoy about moving is getting to see new parts of our country and marveling at God’s wonderful creation. We started off by heading over to some local parks. We were impressed by this HUGE playground only a few miles from where we live. Some of the other parks included a beach on the Colorado River. The water looked refreshing, but we decided to keep exploring… We headed over to the Imperial Dunes. The beauty and expanse of these dunes is truly…
