Gratituesday: Laughter

Posted in Family

Ironically, I have no pictures for today’s post.  I was too busy listening. I was sitting in bed working on getting a few reviews done when the laughing began.  Giggles and squeals.  I love the sound of children’s laughter.  It so joyful, so pure.  It’s contagious. Munchkin was working on her math, and she saw me smile.  She asked me what I was smiling about.  I told her to listen.  She grinned and peeked outside.  Jump, jump, giggle, whop, flop, giggle, tumble, jumple, giggle… Who was the source of the laughter?  Where was it coming from?  The source was two…

Odd happenings in the desert…

Posted in Family, Photography, and Thoughts

Last night, the rain began to fall.  The soft pitter patter could be heard outside our window.  I love listening to the sound of rain, and that sound so often heard when we were on the East Coast is rarely heard here.  There is something soothing about falling asleep to that rhythmic sound. By the time we got up and around, the rain had stopped.  We took D to the airport and said the sad farewells.  Whether it’s a few days, a few weeks, or a few months, the goodbyes are never easy on Munchkin.  This time, he’s only gone…

Fun in the Sun: Soccer & Car Show

Posted in Family

Today, it was absolutely gorgeous outside. First thing this morning we headed to the field for Munchkin’s soccer game. The kids played really hard today, and that hard work payed off with the first win of the season. Munchkin was tired but thrilled. After the game, we headed home for an early lunch because we were headed out to a local car show ~ Midnight at the Oasis. This isn’t a little car show.  It’s absolutely HUGE.  There were four sections with rows and rows and rows of cars.  In D’s honor, I took quite of few pictures of car…

Thankful Thursday: Delicious Gluten Free Food

Posted in Christian Life, Family, and Gluten Free

Today, as I was sitting here thinking about what to write for my Thankful Thursday post, I realized that I wanted to write about food.  I’ve been working with, eating, and writing about food so much lately that it just makes sense. Prior to going gluten free, we took eating for granted.  We could eat whatever we wanted and not have to worry about it.  I felt bad for those that had food allergies, but I hadn’t experienced it for myself.  I didn’t really understand that world.  After going gluten free, the reality sank in that our eating would never…

The Joy of Friendship

Posted in Family, and Military Life

I’ve written before that we have been blessed by good neighbors, good friends at this duty station. I was reminded again today how grateful I am for these good friendships as Munchkin happily ran around with her friend while we stood and talked with her mom, our neighbor. Munchkin does her school work quickly and efficiently (most days), so she has time to get her chores done before her friends come over to play.  She has multiple girl friends here which has never happened in the past.  Most of her friends are Christians and homeschoolers.  Once again, that isn’t something…
